MISSION:  LeaderSpark ignites the power of youth leadership by providing practical leadership skills through a proven curriculum, training and coaching support.

VISION: LeaderSpark to be a leader in Central Ohio’s collective impact initiative for youth while delivering premier curriculum and programs for developing a diverse group of young leaders who have a positive impact on their communities.

WHO DO WE SERVE:  LeaderSpark serves young people ages 14-24 in greater Franklin County, living in low-resource environments & whose circumstances create risk of ‘lower-life’ opportunities.

HOW DO WE SERVE:

Provide: LeaderSpark designs & delivers quality evidence-based programs which empower youth to find their spark and become safe, independent and successful leaders in our communities.

Challenge: While schools are tasked with tackling the challenge of academic achievement, there are also factors beyond the classroom that contribute to the difficulty in closing persistent achievement gaps. LeaderSpark is focused on being part of a systemic effort with partners in schools, other community-based organizations, social services, faith-based organizations, local philanthropic entities, and local businesses, to ensure that youth can thrive in safe and nurturing environments, within the community. Every dream begins with a challenge. In many ways, how we fulfil this initiative is a challenge, not only for the youth, but also (and more importantly) for the community

Always Learning: We often hear about the tension between “accountability” and “learning” when it comes to social sector undertakings. However, the only accountability that matters, in the early stages of a systemic initiative, is “accountability to learning.” In other words, holding our program and program partners in an effort accountable to learning the right approaches and practices as things unfold, and making sense of data to test strategies, fail fast, and be bold, in service to succeeding for our youth in a sustainable way in the long term.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • We believe in challenging the status quo into thinking differently about the contribution youth make to a healthy community.

  • The way we challenge the status quo is through continual evaluation of youth driven data, making our curriculum engaging, simple to use & provide thoughtful learning experiences.

  • We center our beliefs on program co-creation with youth.

  • We want to make intuitive programs with youth & for youth that are driven by what we believe about the value of our youth & not driven by what money is available.
